There’s a country this correspondent — and many others who denounce “socialized medicine” — should look at. Add in net usage and purchasing tracking and all your personal data entrusted to Google Inc.

It's Linux under the hood so why bother? Amazingly at first Google will target netbooks, which consumers dumped Linux for Windows on already so what gives? My personal opinion, if you want an alternative OS get Ubuntu or some other aged open Linux distribution.

In 1996 I made the statement, "the Internet will become like a trailer park that sits behind a strip mall in a couple of years."
Able Roofing Sucks

Had a leak between the roof and a vent pipe - you could visually see where the water was coming from as it was running down the pipe for awhile. We called Able Roofing because they are well known. Able sent out a SALES guy who inspected - problem number one. He told us what he thought the problem was, one of three possibilities as a matter of fact, and made us sign an agreement that only the repair mentioned would be done and he reinforced this contract verbally - problem number two. He also tried to sell us a new roof, but that is typical of sales people.

The roofing crew came out a week later and the repair was done for $300.00, but a couple of weeks later the same leak appears after snow begins to melt. We call again thinking they will do the repair for free considering our initial problem, the problem which caused us to have them repair it in the first place, wasn't fixed. I just have to mention the no returned calls or the "I'm busy" when my wife finally reached the sales person on his cell. Finally I got him to come out.

He inspected again and gave us the other two options, one being around $300.00 and the other being $600.00, but with no guarantee either would really fix the problem. Being stupid, poor, and tired of a hole in our ceiling we choose the cheaper option so after the “buy a new roof” speak we again blindly signed away any recourse or warranty, which as in the first case he verbally backed up in a way that only a legally coached roof salesman could do.

We simply figured that being obvious to us where the leak is that any person doing roofs for any length of time would be able, pun intended, to fix this stupid leak around a pipe. I just have to think this is common, especially with a “new build” which tend to have cheaper roofing done when built. Once again I've learned that in the United States a sucker with money trumps doing the job right or well so the leak is back running down the same pipe. At this point my third option with Able is $600.00 with no guarantee or warranty. Of course I could choose a new roof at about $4000.00 because of bad flashing around a stupid pipe. No thank you!

Is it an individual with a mental defect that appears to be possessed by demons or is it an individual that does not share in the religious beliefs of the Catholic church? Does evil include those who directly or indirectly cause the extinction of a whole species of plant or animal or does it only apply when it affects the human species? If a child is born to a satanic family is this child able to be aborted or would it have to be born in order for it to no longer be considered innocent?

How does the Catholic church define "innocent"? Must one be anointed in holy water by the Catholic church or is a good molestation by the clergy enough? At what age is a human being considered no longer innocent? If a one year old child watches his father sin can he then be murdered? Can a seven year old girl be murdered if her priest rapes her?

I find an organization that has murdered, abused, tortured, and sexually assaulted millions, including innocent women, children, and animals, amazingly bold to dictate to a leader of many faiths and ideals it's opinions and beliefs in the form of threat.

How about those Catholic Hospitals?

No Communion for Obama voters. How about orphanages? Sure we can spend millions on government run orphanages like England did thanks to the Catholic religion disallowing contraception, why not do it here with abortions and no contraception? Got to love the abused, unloved, and unwanted children the religious idiots don't want once their born. Just take a look at our economic times and the cost of one child.
Emergency assistance iPhone application

Another iPhone (smart phone) application I have thought up. This is a rough draft of my idea. How about using the GPS, or triangulation, to locate a phone and submit that information to a service, like local police or rescue?

The way it would work is that the application first gets a location if possible and builds a text message. The user can append more details by simply typing before the count down starts, otherwise a simple "Need Assistance" message is sent and the type of emergency. A toggle will present you with a choice of medical or crime, crime is default. If you do not enter your pin to stop the process the phone in crime mode will silently auto dial 911 and speak the text message to the operator giving your location, details, and any message. In medical mode the user can speak to the operator and cancel the phone's outgoing message.

Example in use:

In a criminal emergency the user starts the application (no pin required to run the application and no need to toggle as crime mode is default). The user then taps a large send button and the phone goes into lock mode after a few seconds. It will appear to be a locked phone with no unusual activity. This application will make no sound during use, including keyboard, phone speakers, or button clicks.

The beacon can be started by tapping the beacon button. If you can type, tapping the console will allow you to type a message which is appended to the default message. After a few seconds of no keyboard activity the call timer will start and the phone will lock or if the send button is pressed the process will start immediately. You will have a very brief time before the phone goes into lock mode to select beacon or console after pressing send.

Once send has been pressed and you do not enter your pin to stop the process after the initial delay the phone will silently auto dial 911. When a connection is made the application will speak the text message to the operator giving your location and message. It will repeat the message twice with a brief pause between.

Once the sent button is pushed the call can only be stopped by entering a four digit pin. If 911 has answered while entering your pin to cancel you can speak directly with them at this point. If send is not pushed the phone will countdown and dial regardless unless the user enters in a pin code to stop or answer the call.

Features:

Crime mode (criminal activity on the demo):

Not only will all communications be silent in crime mode, but the phone will appear to be in a locked state as to not alert any criminal in a dangerous situation. If the call fails the phone will continue until successful call is made or the user cancels the operation. A status message will display errors or success when entering the application and a log will be kept. The log/status cannot be accessed without the pin code. The application will start without the pin code, but once activated must have a pin to stop the process in crime mode.

Set your details:

Put your personal information, including health related, into the application. In the event of an emergency this info will also be provided to the receiver of the call.

Set your locations details and description for accuracy.

Example: Once your phone locates you via GPS/triangulation you can edit the address and notes for that location, like for instance if you are home and the address is off or the responders need more information about that location.

Set your activity:

Example: If you are going hiking or skiing you can set the phone to call the rangers station rather than 911 or even have it call or SMS anyone in your contact list. This feature will add the listing to the emergency type toggle. These user entries can be set as type crime, phone will lock down, or personal assistance, which will act more like medical mode for non-life threatening situations. You cannot change the crime default that dials 911, it will always be the default in the toggle to assure you the safest, fastest, and most reliable operation in a life or death situation. Even if your emergency is medical and you are unable to toggle you will get the prompt attention of 911.

Beacon mode:

If beacon mode is on the phone will blink and beep every few seconds to aid rescuers in finding you. If a message gets to the receiver of an emergency call where beacon mode was activated it will let them know that beacon mode is activated and what to look for. You can set a timer for beacon mode, where the beacon will not start for a period of time after activation - default would be 5 minutes.

LCD TV and the digital high def crap annoys me.

Update:
Been scaling since this post, been a week, and the dark areas still remain. Guess I have to live with it.

Update:
To repair the television, LCD only, I massaged the dark areas lightly. Do not use a paper towel! I used the cloth included with the T.V. but any soft cloth should do - just be careful not to scratch the screen. I then turned the set off for several hours and it is better. I am stretching all content over the next couple of days, which should fix it completely. This information, including a warning that watching analog unscaled can leave dark areas, should be in the owners manual.

I am really against LCD and Plasma flat screens, hate them in their current state, but we broke down and purchased an LG 42" LCD Television in March of this year when our old television died. It was expensive for an object that delivers reruns at a little over $1,100.00 before the warranty, but we got a good deal by shopping around as Best Buy sold the same TV for around $1,400.00 before tax and warranty.

I am also against the February flip to digital. The government fails to tell the small group of people that refuse to get cable or new televisions that the converter the FCC will help pay for is basically useless to many of them unless they buy and install a hundred dollar roof top antenna with amplifier - a recent study proved this is a problem.

My wife decided after we got the flat screen to add high definition channels through WOW cable that would compliment the televisions ability. It's like $4.00 dollars extra a month for several channels that support HD, but don't always deliver HD - more likely than not and the HD is compressed. So now we pay for the occasional HD content in the 200 range, which are dupes of the lower numbered standard def crap, which equals RIP OFF. The only High Definition that looks good is 4, 6, and 10 news and prime time, which with the right antenna is over the air, not compressed, for free.

Now back to the TV. Everyone says that LCD televisions do not burn in and that this is more of a plasma issue. Bullshit! MY TV IS BRAND NEW PURCHASED IN MARCH! My TV now has dark strips down both sides caused by burn in. Why? Most cable content including digital is not high definition and does not stretch all the way across the screen unless scaled by force, which means the bright show is dead square with black areas on both sides. This brightness burned into the center leaving the dark areas untouched so now when you stretch, scale or watch a full screen high definition show you see these nice dark areas in your picture. If it was just Michelle and I it may not have happened, at least not this soon, but our son has cartoons on constantly even when he isn't watching them.

The warranty from LG will not cover burn in even though they say it isn't a problem. If you want to sell televisions where consumers are concerned with burn in and you believe burn in isn't a problem why not cover it? Because it's a problem and they don't want to eat the cost.

Now I have watched high definition on LCDs and if you sit away from the screen at a decent distance, dead in front of the screen at no angle, in a dark room where the picture is bright it looks really nice. Move a little closer and it looks like video on a computer screen downloaded from the internet and I don't f'ing care what the high def people say, it looks grainy and pixelated, especially in dark scenes! I won't even go into the blacks looking blue, green, or purple with that lovely digitized jpg look showing through in even greater detail.

The only way to make good use of LCD is to buy a BluRay DVD player and only watch BluRay DVD, the news, or some prime time HD over the air, other wise save a ton of money and buy a tube TV with standard cable. I just hope this burn corrects itself as some people say it will, but I'm not holding my breath.

Totally slipped by us.

This is cool...

A friend I went to middle school with and hadn't seen in about 24 years contacted me and I found that she has been really close friends with Josh Roxxx since 1990. Small world! She asked me to contact him, but Josh got his profile deleted so I had to find him since he was no longer in my friends list. This indirectly led me to find out that Cruxshadows is playing tonight after visiting Doug's profile, which I clicked while searching to thank him for the night he supported Michelle's art at Outland. We even have the money, but no way to get a sitter this short of notice. Boo hoo...

I am glad I got reconnected with friends so I can't complain too much.

Bush Jr. built his administration through cheating, lies, and deception. The democrats just had theirs built by “We the people”. Lesson learned?

Now, once again, the democrats can fix the republican mess so Bush can get the credit in a little lie know as trickle down bullshit. You know, that same bullshit that gives Clinton the credit for the current economy.

I am just glad the country wasn't as stupid as I was considering it to be; although, give back the marriages in California and make it legal across the country as the bible has no place in government nor the power to dictate love between two people that god, if exists, has allowed to happen considering he is the one that created people in his own image and a portion of these creations love the same sex you idiots! Sorry... Anyway, this election makes the whole voting issue (cheating) from the last election seem even more real considering Bush's first four years and the results of this election after eight.

Now will anyone have the balls to bring up criminal charges or will we see a worse GOP in the years to come after the democrats leave office in four to eight years? Some of these idiots got re-elected after all and the right still controls a lot of the mainstream media that drives or influences the thoughts of many. Plus I don't see religion going away anytime soon since Christianity appears to be a major qualification to becoming an American president. I am pessimistic, but only because I pay attention and history has a bad habit...

I say burn their asses!

The Bush administration working with Saudi Arabia put fear into America and got it's reward – oil and oil related profits from Iraq. It started a war built on lies from 9/11 and Bin Laden to “weapons of mass destruction”.

Bush's administration attempted to, and to a degree, stripped America of it basic protections.

Bush's administration constructed and enacted laws that stripped Americans of their privacy and constitutional rights.

Bush's administration jeopardized the safety of America, it interests, and it's citizens through poor border security, bad foreign policy, and blatant avoidance of security in many high risk areas - during war no less.

Bush's administration ignored warning signs leading to the economic crises and turned a blind eye to illegal activities surrounding investment, banking, and insurance industries.

Bush's administration crippled science and education.

Bush's administration used and lied to the Christian community to benefit it's agenda and at the same time allowed the church to guide some of it's administrative actions, clearly dishonoring the constitution of the United States – see the "First Amendment".

Bush's administration divided the United States citizens and promoted hate and distrust between religious and ethnic groups as well as political groups.

Bush's administration illegally detained/jailed and tortured humans without fair trial and intentionally set up “prison camps” outside the U.S border to execute these actions. I will not even go into the mass camps built within the United States that thankfully never saw action.

Bush's administration failed to react to devastating events, which led to death and misfortune of American citizens.

Bush's administration lied in an attempt to privatize government programs that mitigate risk or secure security for all of it's citizens.

Bush's administration tried to silence some critics through various tactics and jailed citizens exercising their first amendment right to free speech and the right of the people to peaceably assemble.

Bush's administration just about bankrupted the country and put our country into major debt.

Treason!

Religion and Science

I have been a little harsh on religion lately, well most of my life. I must apologize. Being a guy that is interested in physics, science, as well as history I must give credit where credit is due.

Religion, not just Christianity, gave us science and filled in the blanks where historic events and day to day accounts weren't always recorded. I find even though the history in biblical or religious form can be exaggerated and distorted it is still sometimes a historic record and typically has some truth to it. Recently mines were uncovered that may have been King Solomon's mines.

The people involved in early religions created much of the tools and research that were the basis of most science today. Here is one fellow I find interesting. For instance, most early religions followed the stars, which lead to astronomy and even time and Physics. The mixing of herbs in many religions led us to the basics of modern medicine and some of the oldest religions were found to use advanced mechanics to create "miracles" for their believers.

I could go into great historic accounts and into all the interesting tidbits, but the question I want to ask is, where did it all go wrong between science and religion? I do believe science advanced beyond the silliness of religion. Once science began disproving much of the religious foundation those in power, those with all the control and wealth, wanted to curb the truth. This battle is still going on today, which amazes me considering our current knowledge.

I can understand a feeling or curiosity of "there has to be something greater", but I have a hard time accepting an all knowing and powerful male being in the sky that says science should be ignored because it's evil and the only real history are the stories found in books that have been rewritten and edited a million times by mortal men with agendas and no real proof of the content.

http://www.sacred-texts.com/aor/einstein/einsci.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relationship_between_religion_and_science

I plan on reading this:
http://digital.library.upenn.edu/webbin/gutbook/lookup?num=1185

Stop taking away my choices because you can't trust yourself or your family. We live in a country that is supposedly free, yet we have a government agency in charge of fining media companies for content deemed unfit by a majority of morons – see the problem here? If the majority, or a small group with a lot of money, wants liberals put to death how long do you think it will it take before the government takes on the responsibility of carrying out that act? Add some bullshit like liberals are infecting our youth with anti-American ideals and they will move even quicker – especially during an election year.

Children do not need to be sheltered, that causes more problems than letting them see it all. I grew up looking at porn, spend ages 16-21 in topless joints drinking with outlaw bikers, did drugs, and watched a lot of bloody horror movies and I live a productive non-criminal lifestyle. Even though I partied in my youth I don't even smoke cigarettes in my adulthood. I have never cheated on my wife or any partner and about the only bad habit I have, other than the occasional beer, is abuse of bad language, which is due to my rebellious anti-religious nature rather than a lack of better words. Yes, I live to offend people, especially religious freaks! Who determines what's a bad word anyway and who really gives a fuck when they do, not me.

If you dislike the content on your T.V. or your Radio turn the channel! If you don't like porn don't search for it in Google and don't buy the magazines. If your children look for these things they are doing exactly what all children do and should be considered "normal". How are children supposed to learn about themselves and to understand all those feelings (you know, those feelings you no longer remember) when they have no way to learn for themselves, because it's all hidden away? There are some feelings and curiosities children don't want to express to their parents, because their parents made them too afraid to ask, so how do they find the answers? Should they ask the local pervert priest or rape a frat girl in college?

One thing is for sure, I'd rather my son smoke a joint in front of me then sniff spray paint behind my back. I also want him to understand the implications and responsibilities of sexual intercourse before he engages in the act, because they all engage in the act eventually. I want my son to come to me about everything he does not understand and I want him to be armed with knowledge so he can make responsible choices when I'm not around. If you cut them off and hide everything away you're looking for trouble. When you have the government parenting for you, you're are asking for a dictatorship.

F-Bomb

Smut Free Broadband

Privatizing Social Security

Privatizing Social Security is bad for many reasons. The most important is that corporations are in the business of making money and that is their number one concern, not your well being. The government isn't in the business of making profits from these types of programs so they cover everyone, not just the lucky ones, so it only makes sense to not privatize these types of programs.

McCain says, "I still believe that young Americans ought to be able to, in a voluntary fashion put some of their money into accounts with their name on it." If that logic worked we wouldn't need retirement plans as our standard savings accounts would be enough. It sounds great though, he makes you feel like you have control over your retirement money and your future, but many people don't really make enough to save on a day to day basis, what about them? What about those young American's that barely have enough to get through college and end up throwing years of income at paying off student loans? Say that student gets a really great job and starts saving at 30, but ends up having a heart attack at 35? What about men who lose years of retirement money in divorces? I could go on and on and on...

There are so many variables that people do not take into account when talking about important issues such as this. The republicans I've seen around the Internet simply spin it that they can't be responsible for people that aren't successful, but who defines successful? Should someone who cleans up your trash on the city streets for minimum wage be considered unsuccessful and left with no options in their old age because of it?

The government should cover everyone and balance it out among all of it's citizens, period! The "successful" people that have the higher paying jobs already save, or their company saves for them, on top of social security so what's the need for privatization? The way I see it the cap for the rich in the social security system needs removed, they should pay more, and for people able to save in the private sector for retirement they should have a percentage of that savings off-set from their social security so the country doesn't become a third world shit hole.

If a large percent of people can not afford to retire they will work until they are to old. This large portion of American's, not having any retirement money, will cost the government more in care later and\or will burden their children, which could make it harder for them to save for their futures. Eventually you end up with a lot of poor people who all need places to live, all need medical care, etc, etc, etc...

The United States is like a casino, if you're lucky great otherwise get out. This attitude needs to change.

Ever notice the media always introduces John McCain as Senator McCain and always introduces Senator Obama as Barack Obama?

Ever notice the religious people always say they are voting for McCain because he is a real Christian? Rarely do we see or hear any religious talk from him, which makes these hard core Christians look even dumber. The campaign describes his faith as a private matter and he himself says, "God gives us life, shows us how to use it, and leaves it to us to carry out as we choose." He doesn't say everyone should do as the church says as his new found followers say we should. Obama seems to be more open about his faith so why are they stuck on McCain, because they are white and not very well read on the candidates! Before someone gets the wrong idea, I hate religion and god can suck me, which will never happen because he does not exist.

I was more interested in the first, but I had to slam religion while I was at it...
